Disclaimer
1. Introduction
This Disclaimer explains what A Cup of Crime is, what its content is for, and where the boundaries of its responsibility lie. By using the Site you acknowledge you have read and understood it. It supplements, and does not replace, the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
2. The content is opinion and criticism
A Cup of Crime publishes reviews, rankings and profiles of British crime drama. Everything here is the opinion of the site’s editor, written in good faith after watching the programmes in question. It is a recommendation and an argument, not a statement of objective fact, a professional assessment, or an authoritative reference.
Reviews on the Site are offered for information and entertainment. If you are deciding whether to spend money on a streaming service or a DVD set, treat a verdict as one person’s strong opinion — you are welcome to disagree, and the ratings exist partly so readers can push back.
The Site does not provide professional advice of any kind. Nothing published here is legal, financial, medical, investment or other professional advice, and it should not be relied on as such.
3. Accuracy and completeness
The Site makes every effort to keep details accurate — broadcast years, cast, episode counts and the like — because a review site that cannot get the boxset’s era right has missed the point. But information changes, memories of old broadcasts differ, and sources disagree. The Site makes no warranty that every detail is accurate, complete or current, and it is under no obligation to update older material when broadcasters change streaming availability or listings.
Details about where a programme can currently be watched are given in good faith and can go stale quickly as rights deals shift. Check the current service before relying on them.
4. Copyright, trademarks and fair use
The Site discusses named television programmes, actors, broadcasters and production companies. All programme titles, character names, stills and other imagery remain the property of their respective owners, and the Site does not claim ownership of them.
Small images and stills are used for the purpose of criticism and review — to illustrate the very programmes and performers being written about — and each review page notes that its use is fair-use commentary. This is not an endorsement by, or affiliation with, the broadcasters, studios or rights holders of the shows discussed, and the Site has no commercial relationship with them unless it says so.
5. External links and third-party content
Reviews and profiles contain links to third-party websites — broadcasters, streaming services, retailers and reference sources. The Site does not control those sites, does not endorse them merely by linking, and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, practices or policies. If the Site links to a place to watch a show, that is a pointing-of-the-way, not a paid or necessarily current recommendation.
Clicking an external link takes you onto ground governed by that site’s own terms and privacy policy, and you do so at your own risk.
6. No hidden commercial relationships
At the time of writing, the Site does not use affiliate links, does not accept sponsored posts, and has no financial relationship with the broadcasters, studios or retailers it discusses. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed plainly — both on the relevant pages and in the separate Affiliate Disclosure — because endorsements should always be flagged. Nothing on the Site is written in exchange for payment or free products.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided “as is” and “as available”, and the Site and its operator shall not be liable for any loss or damage — direct or indirect — arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here. You make decisions about what to watch, buy or subscribe to based on your own judgment.
8. Changes to this disclaimer
This Disclaimer reflects how the Site works today. If the Site’s practices change — for instance, if sponsored content or affiliate relationships ever begin — this page will be updated to say so clearly.
