Whispers

An informant's whisper sends a man to jail, and the consequences land on Inspector Jean Darblay's doorstep. Whispers is about the oldest trade secret in policing: the tip that solves the case also creates the next one, and the debt does not always get paid by the person who owes it.

The man jailed on the informant's information is not the last word on the matter. The fallout spreads outward and settles in the Darblay household, forcing Jean to confront how deeply her work and her private life are tangled together.
