Lana, with the pressure at its highest, shares something important with Karl Maguire, and the personal stakes quietly climb alongside the professional ones. The series has been walking towards this hour since the first call-out. Everyone knows what is at stake, and nobody is pretending otherwise.

But the hour sustains its pace through sheer mounting jeopardy. The team have to deal with the device and the manhunt at the same time, operating under extreme duress while the clock does its usual work. It is a high-wire act of detection and survival, and the episode never lets you forget that a single wrong decision ends lives. The race to resolve the crisis before it resolves itself is the whole story, and the show trusts the situation to carry it.

Daniel Brierley writes and Jennie Darnell directs, and the cast is as committed as ever. Vicky McClure anchors the narrative as Lana, with Warren Brown's Karl Maguire beside her. Kerry Godliman's Sonya Reeves and Kris Hitchen's John Hudson support, while Cal MacAninch, Nadine Marshall, Mark Stanley and Manjinder Virk hold the operational line as Lee Robins, Marianne Hamilton, Thom Youngblood and Samira Desai. Ralph Ineson's Commander Bregman and Nabil Elouahabi's Hassan Rahim round out the key players. Nobody here coasts.

It is a finale that understands its job: pay off the tension the series has been building, keep the pressure honest, and leave the relationships tested but standing. The ensemble effort makes it work. A strong end to a strong, tense first series, with a quiet confidence the show has earned.
