The sixth episode opens with a drug lord asking for time. Eamon Cunningham meets Cenk Batuk, the son of his supplier, to ask for a two-week extension on his payment; Cenk grants it but says there will be a fee, to be set by his father. Con Doyle then reports that there is no news of Amanda Kinsella or the drugs, and Eamon tells him he expects answers when he returns the next day.
The family is coming apart from the inside. Amanda suggests to Jimmy that Dotser Reid could be feeding information to Eamon; Jimmy loses his temper and reminds her that Frank runs the family and that its operations are structured so that no one outside the family knows enough to inform on it, and tells her that her role is the dealership. Michael takes a call from Anna, who asks whether he still wants to meet. Birdy and Frank argue about Eric on the patio: Birdy says he is hot-headed but has learned his lesson, and Frank calls him a liability, responsible both for Jamie's shooting and for the mess with Eamon.
Eamon is given the episode's strangest passage. He collects his ex-wife Angela for an outing and is told she has found assets in her name and wants them out of it. They reach a health retreat and an ayahuasca ceremony with the facilitator Rhiannon; Angela says she did not choose the ceremony only for herself. Eamon is a reluctant participant, and after drinking the preparation he is overcome by a vivid memory of his mother's death while saving him from drowning.
The informer plot reaches its head. Amanda and Kem go through the weekly cash collection with Nikita, and Kem talks too freely about Frank's stock and probes Amanda about where the product is stored. Suspicious, she offers to set him up with a new car if he will follow her home. When he does, she accuses him of being an informer, blocks him from leaving and threatens him with Jimmy and Michael until he admits he gave Con Doyle Fudge's location. She becomes hysterical when she learns that Eamon is tracking Anna and that there is a bounty for any Kinsella. She lets him go rather than hand him to her husband and brother-in-law, so that there is no more blood on the family's hands.
Two attempted assassinations close the hour. Michael meets Anna at a restaurant and is still with her when she is called home; he receives Amanda's warning and barricades them both into a supply closet while two masked gunmen search the room. The shooters leave when they hear police approaching, and in the closet Michael has another seizure and talks himself down using Anna's presence. Elsewhere, Dotser drives Frank to his meeting and is shot in the head when he insists on sweeping the area first; Frank, who has been taking cocaine, sees his bodyguard killed and is fired on himself, and escapes in the car with a wound the recaps place in the shoulder or chest but no source specifies. The next morning Amanda posts a closed-until-further-notice sign on the dealership door, and detectives arrive with a warrant. The episode ends with Eamon sitting alone on a beach.
The pairing of the two attacks is the episode's best decision: an attempt on Michael in a public restaurant and an attempt on Frank in the street give the hour a scale the earlier ones had not attempted. The ayahuasca sequence divides viewers, and the series' own reviewer found it possibly too eccentric, comparing it to an American wellness satire. What distinguishes it is Amanda's decision to let Kem go, against the family's code, which separates her from everyone around her. This is the hour most often named as the season's best outside the finale.
