A Lot of Bull and a Pat on the Back

The day begins with Terry doing Des a favour, delivering a car. It turns out to have been used in a robbery, and it is covered in Terry's fingerprints. The police pick him up, and Arthur, of all people, produces the alibi that gets him released. No one is more surprised than Terry. A magistrate who is himself a thief adds aggravation on the side. Then the proper work starts. It is the kind of favour that never stays small.

Terry and Arthur have been hired to move a bull from its field to a new farm. The job goes smoothly enough until they realise the men who hired them never owned the animal. So the bull is stolen, they are the ones holding it, and the honest move, for once, is to find the rightful owner and give the beast back. That means going after the men who hired them, and those men are not keen to be found. It is a good deal of running about, with one very large animal that is hard to keep quiet. The bull is the most cooperative party in the whole affair, which tells you most of what you need to know about the rest of them.

And in between, Terry is hired by his stripper girlfriend to discourage a stalker. His life is like that. The wonder is that he still answers the phone.

Diana Malin is Debbie, Gennie Nevinson is Penny, Leon Sinden is Smith, Derek Benfield is Brown, Ann Bruce is Bella, Ken Wynne is Creasey, Glynn Edwards is Dave and Richard Cubison is the Heavy. The title tells you roughly how much of this one is a joke about livestock.

Everyone remembers the episodes where Arthur's schemes turn grand and the money comes in. This is the other kind entirely, and the bull ends up the most honest thing in the day.
